Kailah Ferreyro-Santana (she/her)

Kailah was born in Harlingen, Texas, and raised in the Rio Grande Valley town of Mercedes. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas State University. Coming from a family of educators, she developed a deep appreciation for the difference a dedicated teacher can make and the lasting impact of a supportive school environment.

Kailah teaches math and psychology at Appamada and lives with her wife, Melissa, and their pets, Luna, Puddles, and Corn. Outside the classroom, she enjoys playing video games, collecting cassette tapes, and watching films, a passion that grew from her parents' tradition of family movie nights.

In her classroom, Kailah celebrates the idea that every student learns in their own way and at their own pace. She designs lessons with multiple pathways so students can fully explore and master concepts before moving forward. Her approach blends curiosity, meaningful challenges, and both indoor and outdoor learning experiences to keep math engaging and accessible. Above all, she hopes her students come to see math as a universal language and an essential life skill that builds confidence, inspires creativity, and fosters a lifelong love of learning.
